Tile installation documentation protects against substrate disputes and supports warranty claims. Here's what to photograph on every bathroom tile job.

Bathroom tile failures are almost always caused by substrate problems — moisture, movement, or improper prep. Documenting the substrate before any tile goes down is your protection. Here's what to photograph.

Before tile: Cement board condition, waterproofing membrane coverage (especially in wet areas — shower pan and walls), flatness test, and any existing cracks or concerns.

During installation: Mortar bed, layout lines, first tile set as reference.

After installation: Completed tile and grout, all surfaces including shower niche and floor/wall transitions.
