Team chat per job

Team chat in TimeFotos is tied to a project (job address). Instead of a single group text or scattered messages, every conversation for a job lives inside that project — so you and your crew always have the right context.

Why chat per job?

  • Context stays with the job — Open the project and see photos, documents, estimates, work orders, invoices, and the conversation in one place.
  • No lost messages — Nothing gets buried in a generic group chat. When you need to recall what was decided for “123 Oak St,” you open that project and read the thread.
  • Clear ownership — The chat belongs to the project, so only people with access to that project see the messages (depending on your plan and permissions).

Where to find it

  1. Open the project
Go to Project Albums and open the project (job).

  2. Open the chat / messages tab
On the project details page, look for Messages, Team chat, Chat, or a message icon. Click it to see the thread for this job.

  3. Send messages
Type and send as in any chat. Replies stay in the same thread. You can reference photos, documents, or tasks in the project by talking about them in the thread.

Who can see it?

  • Typically, team members or members of the project can see and send messages. Exact rules depend on your workspace and plan.
  • Clients do not see team chat when they use the client share link. The share link shows only what you’ve made visible (e.g. public photos, shared documents). Internal chat stays internal.

Tips

  • Use the chat for decisions and updates (e.g. “Inspection passed,” “Client asked for X”). Use the Workboard for tasks (e.g. “Schedule follow-up,” “Order parts”).
  • Mention dates or phase names so you can search or scroll back later (e.g. “Rough-in complete 3/15”).
