Custom Shapes
The Custom Shapes phase is where you draw freeform geometry: lines, rectangles, circles, arcs, polygons, and dimensions. Everything is stored in feet and shows live measurements when selected. Use the toolbar for Copy, Paste, Align, Distribute, Lock, and Fit to selection.
What this phase does
Select Custom Shapes from the phase dropdown. The left tool palette and toolbar give you:
- Tools — Select, Pan, Measure; Line, Rectangle, Circle, Arc; Divide; Text
- Edit — Undo, Redo, Copy, Paste, Duplicate, Delete, Select all
- Arrange — Align (left/center/right/top/middle/bottom), Distribute, Bring to front/back, Group/Ungroup, Lock/Unlock
- View — Fit to selection, Zoom, Grid, Labels
All shapes live on the Custom Shapes layer. See Drawing Tools for each tool in detail.
Select and move
Use the Select tool: click a shape to select it, drag to move. Drag corner handles to resize. Marquee on empty space to select multiple; Shift+click to add or remove from selection. Right-click for the context menu (Cut, Copy, Paste, Duplicate, Delete, order, Lock/Unlock). Locked shapes are visible but cannot be moved.
Copy, Paste, Duplicate
Copy (Ctrl+C) copies the selection to the clipboard; Paste (Ctrl+V) pastes with an offset and new IDs. Duplicate (Ctrl+D) copies and pastes in one step. Cut (Ctrl+X) copies then deletes. These apply to shapes in this phase (and in Markup/Assets when those layers are active).
Align, Distribute, Lock
With two or more shapes selected, use Align to align by left, center, right, or top, middle, bottom. Use Distribute to space three or more shapes evenly horizontally or vertically. Use Lock so selected shapes can’t be moved; Unlock to make them editable again.
Layers
The Custom Shapes layer is separate from Survey, House Planner, Deck/Dock, Assets, and Markup. Only objects on the active layer are editable. Use the Layers panel (in the right sidebar) to switch layers and control visibility and lock state.
