Documentation by phase

Markup

The Markup phase is for text labels, callouts, and annotations. All markup lives on the Markup layer (text callouts layer). You can add text with optional leader lines, set font size and color, and apply defaults to all text in this phase.

What this phase does

Select Markup from the phase dropdown. The right panel shows:

  • Text tool — Click to place a text label; type your content; optional callout (leader line to a point)
  • Text style — Font size, color, background (pill) for new and selected text
  • Apply to all — Apply current font/size/color to all text on the Markup layer

Adding text

Choose the Text tool and click on the canvas. A text box appears; type your label. You can add a callout: enable the leader line and drag the end point to the feature you’re annotating. Text is stored in feet at the anchor point; font size is in pixels so it stays readable at any zoom.

Editing markup

Select a text object with the Select tool and edit in the side panel, or double-click to edit in place where supported. You can move, copy, paste, lock, and align markup the same way as Custom Shapes when the Markup layer is active.

Layers and visibility

Markup is on its own layer. You can hide or show it via the Layers panel. When exporting, only visible layers are included; turn off Markup if you want a clean plan without labels. See How It Works for the full layer list.
